ICT Service Desk Technician - Working with Gloucestershire Police based on the Quedgeley site, we are now looking to recruit a talented Service Desk Technician to join the Service Desk Team.
This role will see you managing incidents, enquiries and service requests.
The main tasks are responding to instructions or following agreed plans, installs or removing hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools; follow agreed procedures, including those for wiring work. Taking defined action on simple problems, confirms correct functionality of hardware and software installations and advising supervisors and, if appropriate, users.
This is mainly a Microsoft Technology environment although they do have various bespoke and specific Police systems and tools as well as abiding by ITIL processes.
You will conduct tests of the hardware and/or software affected using supplied test procedures and diagnostic tools. Correct malfunctions, calling on help from more experienced colleagues if required. Document results in accordance with agreed procedures.
You will work under routine supervision and will use your discretion in resolving problems and enquiries. Ideally we are looking for someone to work without frequent reference to others, occasionally influencing and interacting with colleagues. You may also have some external contact with customers and suppliers.
You will performs a range of varied work activities in a variety of structured environments.

You will have a real interest in providing great customer service and an understanding of the needs of the internal or external customer and keeping them in mind when taking actions or making decisions.
You will be expected to gain and maintain a high standard of information security and be vetted to Local Force Management Vetting. Typically, this means that you must have been a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years, and will need to successfully complete all stages of the vetting process before commencing work.
