Software Development Manager is required to join one of the UK’s most iconic UK charities who are recognised globally, they perform an amazing job working with and developing young people, based in central London, near to Liverpool Street Station.
The role will be a 12 month FTC to cover maternity, It may extend to 15 months.
Responsible for the management of the development team, making sure they fulfil their responsibilities to design, built, implement IT Solutions and business projects, to complete tasks and 3rd level application support duties.
Further to this, you will be expected to work closely with senior members of staff, outside agencies and consultants to move the charity forward in line with the IT and business strategy.
You will be responsible for making sure development projects are delivered to a high standard, best practice, and stay on target. They will be directly responsible for a number of 3rd party development contracts.
This position requires a high level of project management, software development specification, a thorough understanding of databases, CRM and report technologies on both Microsoft & Oracle platforms.
The ability to project manage to tight budgets and deadlines, manage staff and work directly with all levels of ability both inside and outside the charity is required.
You will make decisions that affect the charity directly, as well as advise the Senior Management Team on all development.
You will be responsible for the Digital Development Team (currently two BAs, 1 test manager, 2 test analysts and 4 developers, but this is expected to grow)
You have a wide group of key stakeholders and a development budget of up to £500k
The role includes line management of the IT development team, including recruitment and onboarding of new team members, you will provide strong and effective contributions and leadership, the strategic change office, the development of systems and procedures whilst maintaining excellent working relationships with senior colleagues and teams.
You will implement new technologies to instigate the strategy and lead the technical IT development & processes for existing large change projects and new emerging digital technologies.
Key areas of responsibility would be leading on the enterprise technology platform, work
with the SMT and senior managers to identify areas of required improvement primarily but not solely with the databases / CRM systems whilst ensuring that project documentation, and development procedures are available, up to date and relevant.
This role will also include the negotiation and management of supplier contracts, and other formal and informal liaison with outside agencies, contract companies and service providers to ensure they receive the best possible value for expenditure in development related areas.
