Job Description

API and Integration Developer based in Bedford is required to deliver a new in-house business critical capability into the organisation connecting new and legacy IT Infrastructure through the design and development of API’s, micro-services and other web based applications as required by the business.

Supporting the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of their digital infrastructure.

You will be building web and mobile products and services and will lead in the design, development and maintenance of APIs and micro-services for integration with existing back office systems, new front end digital services and third-party solutions. You will manage their API Gateway, including access control and 3rd party support and will working collaboratively and cross functionally within the business, influencing colleagues and partners in support of the delivery of innovative digital tools that support business growth

You will provide 3rd line support for their suite of API’s, in house developed applications and micro-services.

Sharing knowledge and expertise of these digital technologies, tools and techniques with the wider team and business, technical and non-technical audiences including senior management

You will be experienced in designing and developing software in a Service Oriented Architecture / Enterprise Application Integration environment and will have detailed knowledge of a number of programming languages (we use a range of languages including Java .net, C#, MVC, .node.js, Json, python, XML and PHP).

Experience in introducing API and micro-services development and integration capability into an organisation and leading the design, build and maintenance of RESTful and SOAP based APIs including the use of API gateway technologies.

This is a technically oriented role. Primarily accountable for assisting the business in safely transitioning from a legacy monolithic IT infrastructure to a cloud first, customer first more agile and integrated technology stack.

This role will be key in supporting the delivery of refreshed digital engagement and ecommerce technology, critical to the ongoing success of the business as it adapts to changing market conditions.

The role will impact across the business with the development of our API and micro-services infrastructure a key requirement of a number projects across our IT and Transformation roadmaps
